Read the general professional work overview
A proposed technical role needs a profession-specific review of duties, knowledge and qualifications. Scientific Technician/Technologist is a listed profession with its own requirements, not a general permission for skilled trades. Explain the scientific or engineering work being supported and the applicant’s actual preparation before treating experience alone as sufficient.
Establish direct support of the relevant professional work
Scientific Technician/Technologist requires theoretical knowledge in agricultural sciences, astronomy, biology, chemistry, engineering, forestry, geology, geophysics, meteorology or physics, and the ability to solve practical problems in that discipline or apply its principles to basic or applied research. The work must directly support professionals in a listed discipline. Describe that relationship and the actual duties; supervision alone cannot replace these knowledge and ability requirements.
Supply evidence of the knowledge the work requires
Describe the relevant theoretical knowledge and practical ability with actual training and experience records. Have the reviewer assess the applicable profession’s requirements; do not assume any long work history is a qualifying credential substitute. Show how the proposed tasks relate to the supported professional’s work, rather than relying on a general maintenance or production job description.
Confirm what, if anything, needs translation or evaluation
Provide the original training and employment records and identify any translations or evaluations required for the particular process. Avoid both unnecessary purchases and an assumption that evidence review is limited to items literally named in the occupational list. Explain legitimate differences in credential or employer names.
